BLAST Youth Theatre Expands to Basildon This September!

Elevator Arts is thrilled to announce the expansion of our beloved BLAST Youth Theatre to Basildon this September! Building on the success of our Southend group, we are excited to bring our innovative and inclusive project to more young people in the South Essex area.

About BLAST Youth Theatre

BLAST Youth Theatre is a creative haven for young people aged 8-12 with English as an Additional Language (EAL). Our sessions are designed to support vulnerable youth, helping them reach their full potential through the power of creativity. By addressing barriers to integration and learning, we focus on enhancing communication, language skills, mental health, and overall wellbeing. Our inclusive and supportive environment fosters engagement, peer interactions, and confidence, providing a vital response to the complex challenges faced by the rising number of newly arrived and refugee children in South Essex.

BLAST Youth Theatre was established in 2021 in partnership with Southend's Welcome To The UK and has already demonstrated the transformative power of arts participation. Building on this success, we were approached by Signpost (Basildon), a charity focused on supporting disadvantaged communities in Essex, to expand our programme to Basildon. This expansion is a testament to the positive impact of our work and the growing need for such projects in the area.

What to Expect

BLAST Youth Theatre (Basildon) will run regular term time sessions at the renowned Towngate Theatre. We’ll explore new creative approaches to support young people with EAL collaborating with an expanded team to  bring fresh, engaging stories to life. We’ll be working on an exciting new theatre project spanning Basildon & Southend.
