Creative Minds: Shaping the Future of Teacher CPD
This November, we have successfully launched and begun delivering our new Creative Routes project, supported by the National Lottery through Arts Council England. We have hosted two incredible sessions designed to empower and inspire creative professionals and educators alike. From our Creative Exchange focused on peer-to-peer skill-sharing in drama facilitation, to the Creative Minds initiative aimed at shaping the future of Teacher CPD, we’ve had the privilege of working alongside passionate individuals committed to making a difference.
Creative Minds is an initiative focused on enhancing Teacher CPD through the power of drama. We spoke to educators to explore how creative practices can better support student resilience, emotional well-being, communication skills and more.
The session generated fantastic ideas for equipping teachers with practical tools to address the diverse needs of students, particularly in SEND settings.
Key outcomes included:
Responsive Teaching
Drama’s Role in EHCP Goals
Engagement Strategies
Bridging Gaps in Schools
CPD Considerations
Additionally, we discussed real-world classroom scenarios where drama can enhance learning, including topics such as mobile phone usage, online safety and social interaction.
This session was a vital step in creating a CPD course that is both impactful and tailored to the real needs of educators, helping them inspire and support their students more effectively.

We’re continuing to shape this exciting project and we'd love for more educators to join us in crafting a CPD course that truly meets the needs of teachers and students alike.
Sessions are held at South Essex Colleges group in Southend from 5pm - 6:30pm. Our final two sessions are:
Wednesday 5th Feb 2025
Wednesday 14th May 2025
