Sound ON: Empowering Young Lives Through Creativity

We’re thrilled to kick off the new year by returning to South Essex Homes’ Chaucer House with Sound ON, a project dedicated to supporting children and young people living in temporary accommodation. Through creativity and connection, Sound ON provides a vital outlet during challenging times.

What is Sound ON?

Sound ON offers weekly after-school sessions packed with drama, crafts, and creative writing activities for children aged six and up. These sessions are led by professional artists who ensure a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment where young participants can thrive.

Last term, we delved into the exciting theme of superheroes, encouraging children to discover their own unique "superpowers." Through imaginative play and creative expression, participants developed confidence, improved their communication skills, and explored themes of transformation and personal growth.

This term, the group will work with professional storyteller, actor, and facilitator Hannah Brailsford to explore the captivating tale of The King Who Wished to Touch the Moon. Together, they’ll craft puppets, story boxes, and props to bring the story to life, fostering creativity and teamwork along the way.

The Impact of Sound ON

Sound ON has already made a meaningful difference in the lives of its participants. Children have shared how these sessions make them feel happier and more confident, while parents report noticeable improvements in their children’s self-expression and emotional resilience. These outcomes demonstrate the transformative power of creative engagement.

Our Commitment to the Community

At Elevator Arts, we believe creativity has the power to transform lives. Sound ON is one of the many ways we’re working to uplift our community and help young people thrive. We’re deeply grateful to our partners and supporters who make this work possible.

Stay tuned for updates on Sound ON and the incredible stories it will inspire this term!
